minirank is a collaborative image-ranking app. This policy explains what data we handle, why, and how. We designed minirank to collect as little data as possible — and all of it is anonymous.
When you participate in a ranking, the app generates a random, unique identifier (UUID) specific to that ranking session. We store only two things:
A new UUID is created for every ranking you participate in. We have no way to link UUIDs across different rankings or to connect any UUID to you, your device, or your Apple ID. The data we collect is anonymous by design.
When you set a profile photo, the app opens the front-facing camera and uses Apple's Vision framework to detect a blink. This blink-detection step confirms that the photo is being taken live rather than sourced from a saved image.
What face data we process. The Vision framework analyses each video frame to locate eye landmarks and compute an eye-openness ratio. These landmark coordinates are used only to detect the blink event; they are never stored on-device, never written to disk, and never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Photo capture and storage. When a blink is detected, the app captures a single still photo and uploads it to minirank's own cloud storage (Cloudflare Images). This photo is stored as your profile photo for the deck you joined. It is retained for as long as your profile photo remains set, and is deleted when you change or remove your profile photo.
No third-party sharing. Face landmark data never leaves your device. The profile photo is stored exclusively on minirank's infrastructure and is not shared with, sold to, or accessible by any third party.
No facial recognition or biometrics. The app does not perform facial recognition, identity matching, emotion detection, age estimation, or any other facial analysis. The sole use of camera and Vision framework access is to detect a single blink for liveness confirmation.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, IP address, device identifier, location, contacts, or any other personal information. We do not use cookies, fingerprinting, or any other tracking technology to identify you across rankings or sessions.
All data is collected directly through the interaction between the minirank app on your device and our backend servers when you submit a ranking. There is no other source of data collection.
Ranking data is the core of how minirank works — it is needed to calculate and display collaborative ranking results. We do not collect any data beyond what is strictly necessary to provide this service.
We do not share, sell, or transfer your data to any third party. The only external service involved is Apple's built-in app analytics, which Apple manages under its own Privacy Policy. We do not have access to any data that identifies individual users through Apple's analytics.
Ranking data (UUID and associated ranks) is retained for as long as the ranking it belongs to exists. Since this data is anonymous and cannot be linked to any individual, there is no personal data to delete.
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data stored on our servers. Because the data we hold is anonymous and minimal, the privacy risk in the unlikely event of a breach is extremely low.
minirank does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since all data is anonymous and no personal information is collected from any user, there is no age-gated data at risk.
Because minirank does not collect or store personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions or concerns, you are welcome to contact us.
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users through the app.
